The nine-year government-commissioned investigation into Robert Maxwell's business affairs, including missing pension fund assets, has supported the Myners Report calls for greater trustee training.
Pension fund trustees, who in the UK oversee the investment of more than £800bn (€1.3bn) of occupational pension assets, must be given more help and encouragement to train, said the UK's Department of Trade and Industry. The demands echo those of Paul Myners, chairman of Gartmore Investment Management, in his government-commissioned review of UK institutional investment, which was published this month.
