Research consultants move in

Wall Street opens doors to SEC-approved advisers

Independent research consultants are taking up their positions as the eyes and ears of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US regulator, within the US banks involved in the $1.4bn (€1.2bn) settlement over biased research.

Although none of the banks that have so far hired consultants will confirm their appointments before the settlement comes into force, names of those chosen have emerged.
