Westminster gives green light to Gherkin II

A new skyscraper dubbed 'the Cucumber,' being proposed by the billionaire Reuben brothers, has been given preliminary approval by Westminster council

First there was the '"Cheesegrater". Then the “Walkie-talkie”. Now, get ready for the "Cucumber" – a 460ft residential tower in the Paddington Basin, proposed by billionaire brothers Simon and David Reuben, that will become the latest skyscraper to grace London’s skyline.

Westminster Council has given its preliminary approval for the project, a joint venture between the Jarvis Family trust Pearcroft and the Reuben brothers. A final decision will be made later in the year on the structure, already being dubbed "the Cucumber," which will be 124ft higher than Big Ben and 95ft taller than St Paul's Cathedral.
