Greensill Capital loaned money from a Credit Suisse Group fund to a small UK company that also bought millions of dollars worth of investments from Greensill, according to people familiar with the matter and documents reviewed by Financial News.
The deals date from 2018 and involved Chinese telecoms companies ZTE and Huawei. They were sold to Deal Partners – a small business that has received more than $50m in financing from Credit Suisse funds that invest in assets sourced from Greensill. The transactions show how Greensill sometimes finances circuitous deals.
