Richard Branson to help run $500m private equity fund

Billionaire businessman will be general partner in a new fund being launched by Metric Capital Partners

Billionaire entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson is making his first move into private equity by teaming up with London-based Metric Capital Partners.

Branson is working with Metric on a $500m fundraising, according to a person familiar with the matter. He will become a general partner — a term used to describe executives at private equity firms — in the new fund, which will invest in the consumer sector.
