Richard Buxton names investment group after German insect expert

Old Mutual Global Investors, the £31bn London fund manager carved out of Old Mutual’s UK wealth management unit by chief executive Richard Buxton, is to rebrand as Merian Global Investors.

The firm is naming itself after Maria Sibylla Merian, a 17th-century German-born naturalist and entomologist, or insect expert, famed for her work on metamorphosis in butterflies, as well as her botanical art.
