Rickin Thakrar, a former JP Morgan analyst who was suspended after allegedly infiltrating a supplier-only meeting at Asda and then writing a hard-hitting critical research note on what was said, has joined German brokerage Mainfirst, Financial News can reveal.
Thakrar, a food retail analyst, reportedly applied to attend a meeting earlier this year organised by trade body Institute of Grocery Distribution, but was struck off the attendance list as he was not one of Asda's supplier. However, he gained full access to the meeting, and later wrote a note titled "Asda trade briefing - understanding the recent underperformance".
