A second former executive at BP is set to join US private equity firm Riverstone less than five weeks after the UK-based oil company's ex-chief executive, Lord Browne of Madingley, was hired as a managing partner.

Riverstone, which was founded in 2000 to invest in the energy sector, has recruited Ralph Alexander, a director of mining and natural resources group Anglo-American.
