Sir Gerry Robinson, the financier who has been trying to seize control of Rentokil Initial, has walked away from the support services company after talks with shareholders broke down on Friday.

His investment vehicle, Raphoe Management, said in a statement it had not been able to find a satisfactory agreement with Rentokil shareholders.
