Meet the first banker in eight years to become Lord Mayor

Roger Gifford, a former SG Warburg banker, is to become the next Lord Mayor of the City of London

A merchant banker who began his career with SG Warburg has been named as the first Lord Mayor of the City of London in eight years to have a background in banking.

Roger Gifford, who worked in international banking and capital markets for SG Warburg between 1978 and 1982 and is still in the banking sector, will take up his position as the 685th Lord Mayor of the City of London on November 9.
