Royal Bank of Scotland closes crisis-era ‘bad bank’

Royal Bank of Scotland has closed the so-called bad bank it created at the height of the financial crisis in an attempt to stabilise itself and draw a line under its global expansion plans.

In an internal memo —seen by Financial News — sent today, RBS thanked staff at its Capital Resolution unit for their efforts in helping to rapidly shrink the institution over the past nine years.
