Royal London appoints Standard Life veteran as new CEO

O’Dwyer will replace Phil Loney, ending his seven-year stint as leader

Royal London, the UK mutual insurer and pension provider, has finished its six-month hunt for a new chief executive, naming Standard Life veteran and former Prudential executive Barry O’Dwyer to the role.

At the end of last year, the member-owned firm confirmed Phil Loney would step down by the end of 2019, concluding his seven-year stint in the top job. He will now leave at the end of the month, the company announced on June 19, with O’Dwyer set to join Royal London in September.
