Investment banks were always up against it in a privatisation with a cast of thousands

Adrian Bailey, the Labour MP for West Bromwich West and chair of the latest investigation into the now infamous Royal Mail IPO, stood on a table, pointed at a trio of investment banks and screamed: “Where is our money?”

OK, he never did this. But if there is one thing today's Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee report into Royal Mail reveals, it is that politicians wanted Royal Mail to make the taxpayer lots of money, and Bailey et al do not think this happened.
