Standard & Poor's is close to launching a series of style indices to cover stock markets outside the US.

At the Barcelona conference, Peter Jeffreys, managing director of S&P Index Services in Europe, said: 'We have a style venture with Barra in the US, but we do not offer such indices on a global basis. We hope to have them very soon.'
