Sandy Weill abandons early exit from Citigroup

Sandy Weill, chairman of Citigroup, last night said he would stay on until next April, abandoning plans to step down before the end of his contract to start a private equity fund.

In a memo to Citigroup employees, Weill said: "I intend to remain as chairman for my full term, which is scheduled to conclude at our annual meeting in April 2006," Bloomberg reports.
