Santander hits back at ‘dubious’ Orcel in €100m court battle

Spanish bank claims its former adviser secretly recorded private conversations during negotiations over his doomed CEO appointment

Santander has dismissed claims the Spanish bank breached a contract with Andrea Orcel when it scrapped a decision to make him its next chief executive, and has accused the former UBS executive of “dubious ethical and moral behaviour”.

The comments, made in court documents filed on July 26, show the extent to which a rift between Santander and its once-trusted adviser has widened this year.
