Santander is hiring dealmakers from Wall Street and European rivals in London as the Spanish lender increases its ambitions in investment banking.
A deal drought over the past 18 months has not stopped the Spanish bank from pushing ahead with hiring plans, with Santander capitalising on the fallout from rivals including Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse, which have been slashing jobs in their European investment banking team.
