Santander wants to buy back stake in fund management unit

Spanish bank is in discussions with Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic to buy back stake it sold in 2013

Banco Santander is in talks to buy back the 50% stake in its asset-management unit that it sold to two private equity firms in 2013, according to people familiar with the situation.

Santander sold half of Santander Asset Management to Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic three-and-a-half years ago in a transaction that valued the unit at €2 billion ($2.2 billion).
