Schroders, the UK fund manager, has further strengthened its European equities team with the hire of Gary Clarke as a fund manager from rival Gartmore.

Clarke's appointment follows the return earlier this month of Denis Clough, formerly senior manager of Japanese equities at Schroders, from a sabbatical.
