Schroder Investment Management senior UK equity manager Hugo Tudor has quit to join Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Tudor's departure is a blow for Schroders, where he led the telecom sector. Consultant Stamford Associates recently insisted that he should be named as manager of the J Rothschild pooled fund to which Schroders is sub adviser.
