Schroders makes gains with retail surge

The UK-listed fund manager more than tripled net inflows in the first quarter, compared with a year ago

UK-listed asset manager Schroders benefited from a surge in business from retail and affluent investors in its first quarter, more than tripling net inflows from £1.6bn a year ago to £5.6bn as a result.

Michael Dobson, chief executive of Schroders, said in a conference call: "Retail investors were underweight equities and really started to address that in the fourth quarter of last year."
