Scottish Widows has launched an offensive against a property trust after being axed as its investment manager and replaced by a boutique set up by defectors from the UK fund management group.

Scottish Widows Unit Funds, which runs the group's life and trust business, is trying to oust the board of the UK Balanced Property Trust at an extraordinary meeting it is convening on the strength of its 10.5% stake in the trust.
