Scottish Widows is adding external fund managers' investment funds to boost its new stakeholder pension offering.

Newton Fund Managers, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Schroder Investment Management will run balanced managed funds. These will complement the three passive funds and 11 other active portfolios, including European, fixed interest, property, North American, Japanese, environmental, global equity and cash.
