SEC names deputy chief of staff

The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Michael Halloran, a senior partner at law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, as deputy chief of staff.

Halloran will also act as counselor to Christopher Cox, chairman of the US financial services watchdog. Halloran will join the SEC October 16. He is currently senior partner and head of Pillsbury Winthrop's corporate and securities group. Halloran will work with Peter Uhlmann, Cox's chief of staff.
