JP Morgan Chase said today that the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission has authorised the filing of an enforcement action against the company.

The possible charges relate to violations of federal securities laws and rules promulgated by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, with respect to certain transactions executed in 2002 and 2003 with Jefferson County, Alabama.
