The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US financial regulator, is to use software developed by Autonomy, the UK-based software firm, to improve monitoring and surveillance of the US financial markets.

The SEC will use Autonomy's Aungate compliance system as its steps up surveillance of the US markets in response to corporate and Wall Street scandals.
