SEC probes commission rebates

The US Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating whether fund managers are keeping rebates from stock-trading commissions that should be directed back to investors.

The SEC is seeking to find out whether mutual fund managers and hedge-fund managers have used any kinds of rebates to benefit themselves or their firms, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
