SEC reforms under renewed attack

The Securities and Exchange Commission has come in for sharp criticism from hedge funds over regulatory reforms which could come into force next week.

A spokesman for the Managed Futures Association, a hedge fund industry trade body, said: "In light of the division within the commission, the lack of support from the President's Working Group on Financial Markets, and the fact that no public policy case has been made to support the rule, the SEC should at the very least consider the alternatives."
