SEC turns the spotlight on fund managers' personal dealings

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US regulator, is considering controversial proposals requiring all mutual fund managers to report their personal trading activity.

The proposals follow allegations by regulators that money managers at Putnam Investments, the Boston based mutual fund manager, made frequent trades in international funds they helped oversee.
