Senate approves Paulson nomination

Henry Paulson, outgoing chairman and chief executive of Goldman Sachs, has won Senate confirmation as US Treasury secretary. The nomination was fast-tracked in a voice vote yesterday afternoon, hours after Paulson had won the endorsement of the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees the Treasury Department.

No date has been scheduled for Paulson to be sworn in, White House spokesman Ken Lisaius told Bloomberg.
