Senate committee backs Bush's choice for SEC

A US senate panel last night unanimously endorsed Christopher Cox, a Republican congressman nominated by George Bush, to become the new head of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The 20-member committee also nominated Roel Campos, SEC director of market regulation, and Annette Nazareth, an SEC board member, for places on the SEC's board where there are two places up for re-election, Bloomberg reports.
