The head of liability-driven investment in the UK at Axa Investment Managers, who was recruited less than a year ago to lead the business, is leaving the firm to return to South Africa.

Shalin Bhagwan joined Axa's UK LDI business in August last year, according to his public LinkedIn profile. He was previously head of structuring at Legal & General Investment Management, and has also held roles at Mercer, Hewitt and South African firm Sanlam.
