Shareholders force Ramqvist to quit as Volvo chairman

Immediate departure sparked by Skandia benefits scandal

Lars Ramqvist has resigned as chairman of Volvo, the Swedish car and truck manufacturer, in the wake of his involvement in the bonus and benefits scandal at Skandia, the troubled Swedish financial services firm.

His departure follows pressure from shareholders. Ramqvist resigned as chairman of Skandia's board a year ago ahead of an internal investigation into remuneration, bonuses and perks.
