Volkswagen and Daimler, the German carmakers, and UK oil and gas company BP are the latest big corporations to come under pressure from shareholders on their response to climate change.

Hermes Investment Management, the UK fund manager, said on May 14 that it will make a fresh push at the two carmakers’ annual shareholder meetings this year. Volkswagen’s was scheduled for May 14; Daimler’s on May 22.
