Shareholders urged to back vote on fat-cat pay

The National Association of Pension Funds has called for an annual shareholder vote on the issue of remuneration of directors, as concern about overcompensation raised its head at the pension industry's annual conference.

In a letter to the association's members, who are responsible for running £850bn-plus institutional assets, the NAPF has asked for support to a proposal that companies submit remuneration committee reports to shareholders for approval every year.
