Shaw named world's largest hedge fund

New York-based DE Shaw has been named the largest single hedge fund manager in the world, with $19.3bn (€16.4bn) in assets, according to latest figures.

DE Shaw, once described by Fortune magazine as "the most mysterious and intriguing force on Wall Street", considers itself a specialised investment and technology development firm, whose activities centre on various aspects of the intersection between technology and finance.
