Shearman & Sterling in pension talks with ex-partners to push through Allen & Overy deal

Shearman & Sterling is in negotiations with some of its ex-partners about reducing the amount they receive under its pension scheme in order to get its merger with Allen & Overy over the line.

A&O’s senior partner Wim Dejonghe said the two firms had agreed on the size of the pension liability that the combined firm would take on from Shearman’s unfunded pension scheme.
