Sinochem has hired HSBC to advise on its options regarding Potash Corp of Saskatchewan, following BHP Billiton's bid for the Canadian fertiliser company, a person familiar with the situation said, in the latest sign of Chinese interest in the deal.

The person said the state-owned company's move is preliminary and does not mean the Chinese company has decided to make a counterbid for Potash Corp.
