Sir Gerry Grimstone is to stand down as a non-executive director of Barclays at the end of February.

Grimstone, a former investment banker at Schroders, leaves as Barclays’ board prepares for a possible showdown with Edward Bramson, the activist investor who is pushing for changes to the group’s investment bank.
