Goldman Sachs has unveiled its latest crop of managing directors — the second-highest rank at the US bank — at a critical juncture as it reshapes its business under chief executive David Solomon.

The new managing directors will have gone through a rigorous selection process over the past five months, during which their colleagues and superiors at Goldman will have assessed their suitability for the role based on everything from commercial acumen to ability to mentor junior staff.
