Citigroup has handed Jonathan Joseph, a senior technology analyst, the task of running its US equity research team as the bank shapes its new-look Smith Barney research unit.

Joseph, who has worked for Salomon Smith Barney's research team in San Francisco since 1999, will also be responsible for coverage across the Americas. At the same time the bank appointed Mark Fulton as Joseph's deputy.
