Former US treasury secretaries John Snow and Larry Summers have become the latest political heavyweights to join the hedge fund and private equity industries, as the alternatives businesses seek to improve their relationships with government.

Snow has joined Cerberus Capital Management, a US distressed debt and hedge fund manager, while Summers is set to join DE Shaw & Co, one of the US's largest hedge fund managers.
