Societe Generale opens Paris clearing hub amid Brexit unrest

New clearing hub is one of a number being set up to sidestep Brexit uncertainty over the processing of derivatives

Societe Generale is opening a new clearing hub in Paris as banks and market infrastructure providers brace for a potential Brexit migration of trillions of euros of derivatives from London to continental Europe.

The French bank said in a December 10 statement that its Parisian hub will be able to clear client trades directly by the end of 2018. The expansion is designed to strengthen its existing booking models in London, New York and Hong Kong.
