French bank Société Générale has hired an executive from Jefferies to expand its equity trading capabilities as it continues to grow its US program trading desk.

John Shaw will work as a managing director for the global program trading and electronic services team based in New York. Shaw will be responsible for building the bank's US presence in program and electronic trading. He will report to Stephane Loiseau, the head of program trading and electronic services.
