Societe Generale plans to cut 900 jobs from its operations in France as the bank looks to reduce costs by €1.7bn over the next two years.

The French lender said that around 5% of its employees would be departing in its home country from its head office. The redundancies would not be forced, the bank added in a statement announcing the move.
