Societe Generale will cut 1,600 jobs as part of an effort to boost profits at its investment bank after a period of falling trading revenues.

The French bank will strip out around 750 roles in its home market, with the bulk of redundancies likely to hit its global banking and investor services division, which houses investment banking and trading. The GBIS unit has around 20,000 employees.
