SoftBank hires Deutsche Bank’s former bond trading boss

Ioannis Pipilis is the latest in a series of ex-Deutsche bankers to get a job at the Japanese tech investment fund

The former head of fixed income at Deutsche Bank, who left the struggling German lender as part of a sweeping overhaul of its business this summer, has re-emerged in a senior role at the SoftBank Investment Advisers.

Ioannis “John” Pipilis has become the latest ex-Deutsche executive to join SoftBank’s investment arm, which manages its $100bn Vision Fund — owner of stakes in companies including WeWork, Uber and Slack.
