Soros deal with SEC in 1979 on ‘manipulation'

George Soros, who last week went on trial in Paris for insider dealing, was accused of share price manipulation in the US by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a decade before the alleged offences on the Paris stock exchange.

Soros, who has made billions running his Quantum stable of hedge funds, is waiting for the Paris judges to reach a verdict on the charges levied against him and three businessmen prominent in France.
