Flatt Wine Auction Reaps Nearly $1.2 Million at Sotheby’s

Last month I wrote about the late eccentric wine collector Lloyd Flatt, who believed great wine was for drinking, not for investing.

"Unlike an art collection, which is permanent, wine must ultimately be consumed," said Mr. Flatt, who died in January 2008 at age 71. "You should never contemplate a cellar if you cannot accept that fact."
