Spanish treasury to syndicate long-dated bond in 2002

Spain will for the first time syndicate the initial tranche of a new sovereign bond next year as it explores ways to boost the performance of its long-term debt.

Carlos San Basilio Pardo, the deputy director general for public debt within the ministry of economy's treasury general directorate, said that while the sovereign was happy with the performance of its short- and medium-term bonds this year, it will aim for an improvement in its long-term debt.
